The warning has absolutely NOTHING to do with whether or not the developer sells their app through the Mac App Store, harryb. Please tell us if this works because ScamZapper specifically blocks the intrusion which you experienced and you should have it. Once downloaded, remember to go back to System Preferences and select Mac store & selected developers once again. Click on the padlock - you will need your admin PW and under 'Allow Apps Downloaded from', check Anywhere. Or, as a temporary measure, you can go to System Preferences > General. The way round this is two fold: you can right-click on the app or whatever and select 'Open'. Apple wants to remind people to be cautious about downloading apps or extensions not specifically 'approved' by Apple. Or if you need any more detailed instructions, I think I know what the problem with ScamZapper might be. Then download Ghostery and Adblock plus (Google to get to their sites).
